Myotherapy is a form of manual therapy for the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions. At take2health, our Myotherapist’s use a wide range of treatment techniques that aim to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures. They work with the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.Using well-trained palpation skills, our Myotherapist’s can identify trigger points within muscles and other areas of muscular dysfunction, and deactivate them using various soft tissue manipulation techniques. Dysfunction can often be caused by trauma, overload or misuse of muscles arising from occupational, sporting or recreational activities.


What is involved in a Myotherapy treatment?

A consultation with a take2health Myotherapist, will involve a full case history, which is then followed by muscle, joint and neurological testing procedures. Treatment with one of our Myotherapists is predominately a “hands on” approach, and may include soft tissue massage, cupping, dry needling, trigger points, muscle stretching and corrective exercise/ postural advice. Our Myotherapist will aim to identify the cause of your pain and provide effective and long lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a consultation?

Your initial consultation with a Myotherapist at take2health will take 1hour. Any subsequent appointments may be 1hour or 45minutes. Your Myotherapist will guide you as to which length of appointment will suit you best.

Do I need a referral?

No. Private patients do not need a referral to see a Myotherapist. WorkSafe patients will require a referral letter, and prior approval from WorkSafe. Please be aware that clients claiming through WorkSafe, must pay for their consultation in full at the time of their appointment and then seek reimbursement.

Can I use my private health cover?

If you have “ancillary” or extras cover with your private health fund, you may be able to claim a portion of your Myotherapy treatment. We have HICAPS facilities on site, so you need only pay the gap.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that life is busy, and situations sometimes arise. As with all services at take2health, we ask that you please give a minimum of 24hours notice to cancel or reschedule your Myotherapy appointment. Less than 24 hours notice will result in a cancellation fee being charged.

What do I need to bring?

If you have any recent tests or x-rays it would be helpful for you to bring copies of these for your therapist.
